Who We Are

Church History
Our story begins in 1946 when it became evident that a Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod congregation was needed in the Lakeview area. So a piece of land was purchased on the east side of the main road coming into Lakeview and the chapel and furnishings from the dissolved Norwegian Lutheran Church in Amble were purchased and moved to that location. Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church of Lakeview began its ministry to Lakeview and surrounding area with its first divine service, conducted by Rev. W. W. Gnuse, on September 21, 1947.
A fellowship hall was added to the chapel in 1958 as the congregation continued to grow and a parsonage was built next door in 1962.  Under the guidance of Rev. David Kuerschner growth in the congregation demanded a larger sanctuary and groundbreaking for the current sanctuary was held on November 14th, 1976. Sunday school rooms and a larger kitchen were added in 1988. 
This congregation has been blessed over the past 70 years to have been led by faithful pastors who have taught the true Word of God. Our members have grown spiritually over the years by studying that Word and putting it into practice in our community.

God’s love overflows in the lives of our members as they work in the community by participating in the CROP Walk each year, supplying weekend meals for underprivileged students, sponsoring the food truck for one month a year and providing Christmas gifts for needy children. You will also see that love as they interact with each other at Bible studies, making apple pies and putting on the Mexican Dinner each year. They have, by the way, been funding the community action projects by making apple pies for more than 30 years and selling Mexican dinners for more than 20 years.
This congregation is a true family who is always ready to welcome new members into the fold. We would like that to be you!

Beliefs

This congregation confesses and accepts without reservation all the books of the Old and New Testaments as the Inspired Word of God and considers them to be the only rule and norm of all faith and practice. 

This congregation accepts as true and unadulterated statements and expositions of Biblical doctrine the following Confession of the Lutheran Church:

  1. The three Ecumenical Creeds – The Apostles Creed, the Nicene Creed, and the Athanasian Creed; 
  2. The Unaltered Augsburg Confession and the Apology of the Augsburg Confession; 
  3. Luther’s Large and Small Catechism;
  4. The Smalcald Articles and the Formula of Concord.


No official action may be taken by, and no doctrine taught, in this congregation which conflicts with this Confessional Standard.
